The Boatbuilders of Jupiter
At the inlet, a new generation is redefining what a day on the water can be.
By Palm Beach Authority Editorial
There is a particular quality of light at the Jupiter Inlet in the early morning, when the boats are being readied and the water is still glass. It is a working scene — lines coiled, engines checked, ice loaded — and it has looked this way for generations.
What is new is the intention. A small group of captains, several of whom grew up on these docks, are building charter experiences that feel less like a service and more like an invitation. The boats are smaller, the trips are slower, and the point is the water itself.
We spent a morning among them, watching the routine and talking about what the next decade of coastal life on this stretch of the county might look like.
