The Keeper of Worth Avenue
A conversation with the woman who has shaped the island's most famous street for three decades.
By Palm Beach Authority Editorial
Worth Avenue is a street the world believes it knows — the courtyards, the vias, the light that falls just so in the late afternoon. But the avenue is also a working street, kept alive by a small number of people who have shaped it over many years.
She is one of them. We met on a Tuesday morning, before the doors opened, when the avenue was still hers alone. The conversation ranged widely — from the merchants who have come and gone, to the architecture she fought to preserve, to the next generation she is quietly mentoring.
What emerges is a portrait of stewardship: the idea that a place is not maintained by accident, but by the deliberate, daily attention of the people who choose to care for it.
